I. Route Planning
1. Departing from Shangri-La City
Distance: Approximately 5 kilometers, 15-minute drive.
Route: Head north along the Long March Avenue or Huancheng East Road, and follow the signs to turn onto Niwang Road to reach the Songzanlin Scenic Area visitor center parking lot.
Starting point: Dukezong Ancient Town/City area
Navigation settings: Search "Songzanlin Scenic Area Visitor Center".
2. Departing from Lijiang/Dali
Lijiang → Shangri-La (approximately 180 kilometers, 3.5 hours):
Take the Dali-Lijiang Expressway and then the Xijing Line (G214). The route passes through Tiger Leaping Gorge; the mountain roads have many curves, so drive cautiously.
Dali → Shangri-La (approximately 300 kilometers, 5 hours):
It is recommended to take the Dali-Lijiang Expressway and then the Xijing Line, passing through Jianhu Lake and Lijiang.
II. Road Conditions and Driving Tips
Within Shangri-La City: Roads are flat; watch out for pedestrians and livestock.
Long-distance sections: Some sections of the G214 mountain road have sharp bends. Landslides are possible during the rainy season. It is recommended to drive during the daytime.
Vehicle preparation: Check the brakes, tires, and fuel level. Vehicle power may decrease at high altitudes; turbocharged vehicles are recommended.
III. Parking Information
Scenic Area Parking Lot: Located at the entrance to the scenic area. Charges are according to the scenic area parking lot fee standard.
Warm Tip: From the visitor center parking lot to the temple, you can take the scenic area shuttle bus, which takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
IV. Ticket Prices and Opening Hours
Full Ticket: 90 yuan/person (including shuttle bus and explanation fees);
Half Ticket: 62 yuan/person (including shuttle bus and explanation fees);
Opening Hours: Summer (7:00 AM - 8:00 PM), ticket sales stop at 6:00 PM; Winter (7:30 AM - 7:00 PM), ticket sales stop at 5:30 PM.

V. Tour Notes
Religious Etiquette:
Remove hats and sunglasses inside the main hall, and do not point at the Buddhist statues.
Walk around the stupa/prayer wheels clockwise and do not step on the thresholds.
High-Altitude Response:
Move slowly and carry an oxygen tank, warm water, and sunscreen.
Avoid strenuous exercise; rest immediately if you feel dizzy.
Clothing Suggestions: Warm jacket + comfortable shoes (many steps), avoid short skirts/shorts.
VI. Nearby Recommendations
Dukezong Ancient Town (3 kilometers away): Turn the world's largest prayer wheel and experience Tibetan culture.
Napahai (10 kilometers away): Self-drive around the lake and view wetland birds (free road around the lake).
Pudacuo National Park (22 kilometers away): Hike through high-altitude lakes and forests.
VII. Practical Tips
Weather: Large temperature difference between day and night, rainy in summer; bring rain gear and a down jacket.
Food and Drink: There are Tibetan restaurants outside the scenic area; we recommend butter tea and highland barley cakes.
