Yak beef

  Yak meat, cured with brine and sliced thinly, makes a great accompaniment to alcohol, especially the local barley wine.

  Every part of the yak is valuable. The meat is edible, the hide can be made into clothes, boots, and bags. The head can be made into handicrafts, the tail into a dust whisk, and the penis is considered an aphrodisiac. Because yaks live at altitudes of several thousand meters, where many wild medicinal plants such as fritillary and caterpillar fungus grow, and they frequently eat these herbs, their meat is exceptionally delicious and can be stir-fried, braised, stewed, or sun-dried into jerky, each preparation having its unique flavor.
