Every time there is a major religious activity in the monastery, or when high-ranking monks and virtuous people are making major decisions, they will go to the lakeside to recite scriptures and pray for blessings. Tibetan people or tourists will also go to the lakeside to burn incense and pray for blessings during their daily life or on festivals, carrying their wishes. According to legend, if you are sincere, the lake will show divine guidance, showing some special scenes, guiding you where to go or showing you what you want to know. Its spiritual energy permeates the entire Songzanlin Temple, protecting the surrounding people and their families with prosperity and good fortune.
